FAQ's

What do I need to get married?

If you reside in California, the state requires that both parties be at least 18 years old and present themselves at the County Clerk's office with a valid government photo I.D. and/or birth certificate depending on the I.D. and purchase a marriage license. The Fresno County Clerk's office charges $58 for the public license and $69 for the confidential. If one of the engaged partners is younger than 18, a judge has to make the determination of whether the marriage can take place based on the circumstances. If one of the engaged partners is incarcerated and cannot present themselves to the County Clerk's for the marriage license, an "unable to appear" form can be filled out to attest the situation. Contact your local clerk's office to find out specific details about appearance and what an acc.

What are the steps to get married civilly? 1. Couple schedules a meeting and ceremony date with the Wedding Officiant. 2. Couple purchases marriage license at County Clerk's office. 3. Wedding Day: ceremony is performed by Officiant and the marriage license is signed. 4. The marriage license is registered. 5. Couple obtains the certified Marriage Certificate

What is the difference between a public and confidential marriage license?

The public license is an open record and the public can search it. The confidential marriage license is a private record that doesn't reveal private information to the public if they inquire. The public license has to be signed by 1-2 witnesses, whereas the confidential license does not require witnesses to sign (other than the Officiant).

What are the benefits of a civil wedding? Having the opportunity to design every part of your ceremony without restrictions. In a civil ceremony you are able to choose what traditions or rituals you want to use without the ceremony being lengthy or oversimplified. Your personal values are what will make your ceremony unique. Your specific spiritual beliefs will also be incorporated if you choose.
